Hi neighbor!

My morning latte is a non-negotiable part of my day. I usually make it at home, but sometimes the craving strikes when I’m out and about with my kids.

Luckily, we have a bunch of family-friendly coffee shops in our area! Some of these have been recommended by neighbors in the Pleasant Hill Moms Facebook group and are new to me, so I’m excited to give them a try.

A fully vegan cafe with specialty coffee drinks and yummy food. Kids particularly enjoy the mini donuts! Ask about the box of shared toys and books while you’re there.

This local gem features outdoor seating only, with plenty of room on the picnic tables for your family to enjoy a treat (and space for strollers/wagons).

Location: 1941 Oak Park Boulevard, Pleasant Hill.

Latte Da Espresso and More

A family-run neighborhood cafe serving breakfast bagels, sandwiches, and coffee, with seating inside and out. It's a low-key spot for meeting up with friends and their kids, and there’s easy access to a bathroom (key for going out with kids IMO!)

Location: 1902 Oak Park Boulevard, Pleasant Hill.

Started by the founders of Rooted Coffee, this Walnut Creek market has a large patio where families can gather for a drink and a snack. They have an amazing coffee menu, as well as juice, smoothies, and soft serve (with toppings!), which has been a big hit with the littles.

It’s also located right next to Larkey Park and Lindsay Wildlife Experience so you can add an outing for the kids while you’re in the area.

Location: 2800 Larkey Lane, Walnut Creek

A Walnut Creek cafe that several neighbors, including a mom of five, describe as kid friendly. There’s even a play corner with wooden toys and books to keep little ones busy while you enjoy your coffee!

Location: 325 North Wiget Lane, Suite 100, Walnut Creek

A downtown Walnut Creek micro-roaster that also serves smoothies, juices, adult beverages, and food. There seems to be something for everyone!

It's a great stop after visiting Civic Park, the Walnut Creek Library, or a stroll on Main Street.

Location: 1410 North Main Street, Walnut Creek

A spacious Concord coffee bar with room to park a stroller, grab a coffee, and let kids play.

Location: 1655 Willow Pass Road, Suite B, Concord

A Martinez favorite that neighbors rave about, with a family area where kids have space to spread out.

Location: 609 Ward Street, Martinez

A neighborhood kitchen and coffee bar with a kids' menu. It’s right next to Plaza Park, so you can order your food, borrow a blanket and some toys, and picnic on the large grassy area while your kids run around.

Location: 3535 Plaza Way, Lafayette

A Bonus Tip: Broadway Plaza

One neighbor's strategy is to grab drinks from any of the Broadway Plaza cafes in Walnut Creek and let the kids run around.

Have a coffee shop your family loves that I missed? Reply and tell me. I'd love to add it.

See you around town,

Jen
